About the Magazine

Mid-South Golfer Magazine was started in 1987 to provide in-depth coverage on golf events of interest to Memphis, TN and the Mid-South.  With the rich golfing tradition in and around the Memphis area, and the high number of avid golfers, the newspaper-style publication was an instant success.

The magazine grew steadily throughout the 1990’s and went through several style changes, ultimately evolving into a full color gloss publication.  Regular instruction features were added during this period and readers came to rely on Mid-South Golfer as their #1 source for area golf coverage.

In 2003 Mid-South Golfer was purchased by Jimmy Darr and since that time the magazine has gone through more style changes in an effort to compliment its increase in competitive and charity/celebrity golf event coverage.  Action photography from all the top regional competitive and charity events has been widely acclaimed and has led to a dramatic increase in readership.

Mid-South Golfer celebrated its 20th Anniversary Season (1987 to 2007) making it one of the longest-running regional golf publications in the country.  2009 has seen the digital version of the magazine evolve into an interactive, viewer friendly offering that allows readers to "hot-link" directly to advertisers and points of interest within certain articles.  The re-design and launch of www.midsouthgolfer.com has also taken place in 2009 and offers visitors the most comprehensive source for golf information available in the area.
